We suddenly heard a noise.

After pandering to Buja’s needs, some of the Bujions who guarded the dungeon were coming towards the guard room carrying a huge jug of wine between them.

Katski dragged us under some old gunnysacks just in time.

Charlotte was still up on the wall chewing the wire with all her might.

She was a tiny creature and the guards who boisterously talked amongst themselves didn’t notice her busily at work chewing on the wire.

They were more concerned with making sure that the large jug containing the wine did not spill.

I signaled for Charlotte to stop chewing until the guards settled down and started drinking their wine.

Nobody was around other than the guards. We could see them at a distance in their guardroom.

They were busy playing cards, shouting at each other and continuously filling their mugs with wine from the jug.

It looked to me as if there was a competition to see who could finish their mugs first.

Very soon, they were completely sozzled with the sweet-smelling wine.

I gave Charlotte the signal to resume chewing again.

Charlotte had very sharp teeth.

The strong light shining over Dracco’s uncle’s body was gone in a flash.

There was a deadly silence, and Charlotte scrambled down the wall and quickly climbed onto Fromage’s neck.

Fromage sighed with relief to have his tiny friend back with him again.

“Bravo! Charlotte. Jolly well done,” I whispered.

We sat still under the gunnysacks, holding our breath, wondering what would happen next.

We couldn’t take our eyes off the coffin, terrified as well as mystified at the situation we found ourselves in.

I, for one, wished to have the stories I had heard from the local castle staff proved wrong.

But at the same time, I desperately wanted Dracco’s uncle to come alive again.

He had to save Dracco from becoming a vampire as he had promised Dracco’s Mom.
